Tether Launcher & Yank Grenade ARC Raiders: Full Breakdown

Frozen Trail added two gadgets that tie, drag and yank your targets, and the launch notes only list their names. That leaves Raiders guessing about range, crafting and blueprints.

We put the Tether Launcher ARC Raiders stats, the Yank Grenade ARC Raiders details and the confirmed combos in one place, and we flag what Embark has not published yet.

What the Tether Launcher and Yank Grenade Do

Both gadgets arrived on October 8 with the Frozen Trail update, alongside the Pendola Pass map.

Embark covers them in a single section of its Frozen Trail First Look.

The Tether Launcher connects two separate points with a wire. That can root a target in place, or attach a Raider to an ARC machine so the machine drags them away.

The Yank Grenade works on the same principle. When it explodes, it pulls a nearby target toward the blast with violent force.

Embark names two uses for the grenade: smashing flying ARC into the ground and pulling Raiders out of cover.

Our Frozen Trail update overview covers everything else that shipped, and our Flash Freeze guide covers the storms you will be fighting around on Pendola Pass.

Tether Launcher and Yank Grenade Stats

The ARC Raiders Wiki lists the basic numbers for both items.

StatTether LauncherYank Grenade
TypeQuick Use gadgetQuick Use gadget
RarityRareUncommon
Range30m8.5m
Duration10s1s
Stack size13
Weight5 kg0.35 kg
Sell value3,000550

The Tether Launcher sell value comes from MetaForge alone. The wiki does not list it. The Yank Grenade wiki page lists the grenade’s 550 Coins.

The range gap shapes how you use them. The launcher is a ranged tool at 30 meters. The grenade has an 8.5 meter reach, so you commit to a close throw.

The launcher’s 10 seconds is how long the wire holds. The wiki lists the grenade’s duration as 1 second but does not explain what that measures, so we do not read more into it.

Weight matters in a tight loadout. The launcher takes 5 kg by itself. A full stack of three Yank Grenades weighs about 1 kg combined.

How to Craft the Tether Launcher and Yank Grenade

Both recipes need a level 2 station. If yours is not there yet, our workbench upgrade guide walks through the steps.

ItemStationIngredients
Tether LauncherUtility Station, level 22 Steel Cable, 1 Advanced Electrical Components, 1 Calculator
Yank GrenadeExplosives Station, level 21 Rope, 1 Crude Explosives

MetaForge is the only database listing these recipes right now. The wiki pages have no recipe yet, so check the recipe in your own workshop before you spend materials.

Recycling returns materials. The Tether Launcher recycles into 1 Mechanical Components and 1 Steel Cable. The Yank Grenade recycles into 1 Rope and salvages into 3 Fabric.

Our crafting guide covers how stations and recipes work in general.

How to Get the Tether Launcher and Yank Grenade Blueprints

No source for either blueprint is confirmed.

ARC Tracker says no container is known to hold the Tether Launcher blueprint, and its Yank Grenade blueprint page says the same. MetaForge has no location data for the Tether Launcher blueprint.

Both blueprints sell for 5,000, like every blueprint in the game.

Embark’s trader notes say Celeste now trades materials for furniture crafting and newly introduced gameplay items. They do not name either blueprint, so we are not treating that line as a source.

The ARC Raiders Wiki says blueprints in general come from scavenging, trials, quests or projects. Which one applies here is unconfirmed.

Shop pages that sell these blueprints tell you nothing about where they drop.

Our guide to getting blueprints covers the known channels and how to learn a blueprint once you have one.

How the Tether Launcher Works in a Fight

The wiki describes a two-shot launcher. Each shot anchors one end of the wire to whatever it hits, and the wire links both points together.

Embark describes no damage for it. Think of it as a tool that creates openings.

How the Tether Launcher Works in a Fight

Root a Raider in place

A tethered target is held where the wire anchors it. Embark says rooting a target leaves it easy to finish, so line up a follow-up shot or call a teammate before you fire.

Tie a Raider to an ARC machine

This is the use Embark highlights. Attach a Raider to an ARC and the machine drags them away as it moves.

The result depends on where the ARC moves next, so treat it as a gamble in a crowded fight.

Limits to plan around

The wire lasts 10 seconds, so plan your follow-up inside that window.

The launcher does not stack, so each one takes its own slot and 5 kg. There is also no repair option right now, which we cover in the known issues section. Early guides report that a Bully breaks free fast, while early test footage shows a squad pinning a Skulker and killing it quickly.

How the Yank Grenade Works

You throw it, and when it explodes it pulls a nearby target toward the point of impact. The range is 8.5 meters.

Embark says this works on Raiders in cover and on flying ARC. Pull a flying machine to the ground, or drag a Raider out from behind a wall.

Explosive grenades like the Trigger ‘Nade deal damage. Embark describes no damage for the Yank Grenade, so pair it with a weapon.

How the Yank Grenade Works

For a refresher on which ARC fly and which do not, see our ARC enemies guide.

Tether Launcher vs Yank Grenade

The launcher holds a target. The grenade moves one.

Verdict on reach: the launcher wins. It works from 30 meters, while the grenade needs you close.

Verdict on cost: the grenade wins. It is light, stackable and uncommon, so losing a few hurts less.

Verdict on flying ARC: the grenade. Embark names it for that job.

You can also run both. Yank a Raider out of cover, then tether them there. We have not tested this pairing in a raid. It follows from Embark’s descriptions of the two items.

Tether Launcher vs Yank Grenade

The Grappling Hook is a different kind of tool. It moves you, while these two move your targets. Embark also trimmed the Snap Hook’s range from 20m to 18m in the same update.

Combos and Loadout Setups

These setups follow Embark’s descriptions. Treat them as starting points to test.

Tether Launcher and Yank Grenade Combos and Loadout Setups

Yank, then shoot

Pull a Raider out of cover and shoot them before they reset. This is the grenade’s headline use.

Tether, then team fire

Root a target and let your squad finish. Solo, you have to land the follow-up yourself inside the 10 second window.

Yank, then tether

Pull a target to a spot you picked, then hold them there. It costs two quick use items and 5 kg of launcher weight.

Pull a flying ARC down, then finish it

Use the grenade on a flying machine, then hit it with a weapon once it is grounded. Flying ARC damage also counts toward stage 3 of the Sheltered Retreat project, which asks for 800.

Known Issues and Limits

Embark’s Frozen Trail patch notes list one issue for these items: the Tether Launcher cannot be repaired. Embark says a fix is planned for an upcoming update.

The notes do not say how fast the launcher wears down. Until the fix lands, we would plan around replacing it. For how repairs work on weapons, see our weapon durability guide.

Embark is also running a PvE toggle test from October 13 to 20. Per our PvE toggle test breakdown, PvE sessions have no player damage. We have not seen Embark say how tethers and yanks behave toward other Raiders there.
